Andy Kempe
Andy Kempe is Director of Initial Teacher Training and Senior Lecturer in Drama Education at the University of Reading. He has extensive experience of working with both trainee and serving teachers in the UK and abroad and his work with students of all ages and abilities has informed numerous articles and chapters covering a wide spectrum of issues in drama, English and arts education. His GCSE Drama Coursebook has been a standard text in many schools since the first edition was published 20 year ago. Recent publications include Speaking, Listening and Drama, Progression in Secondary Drama and Learning to Teach Drama 11 – 18. He is currently researching into the professional identity of drama teachers, and the ‘master teacher’ in drama. His book Drama, Disability and Education will be published in 2012.
Who's to blame?
This workshop follows the edict that what you need for a good drama is a good question.
Using a range of flexible drama strategies that could be employed in other contexts to interrogate 'devil and the deep blues sea' situations, we'll explore a tricky moral dilemma that wouldn't be entirely out of place in an American soap opera! There will be a few laughs here but expect to be asked to make some uncomfortable decisions as well!

At a time when the arts in education are under increasing challenge, the Conference is designed to inspire and support anyone with an interest in or professional engagement with Educational Drama and Theatre whether in London, or elsewhere.
Our aim is to make links, and put you, the wide range of practitioners, in touch with one another - to share current projects and practice.

Adam Annand, Andy Kempe, Daniel Shindler, Lucy Cuthbertson, Paul Sutton.

STEP is a borough-wide partnership linking the theatre community and education and youth sector in the London Borough of Southwark.
STEP aims to equalise, extend and deepen the theatre and drama experience of all young people living in Southwark through the development of strategic partnerships between schools, youth and community groups and theatres and performing arts organisations.
STEP's objective is to work closely with Southwark schools, youth and community groups and theatres and performing arts organisations to develop creative approaches to learning and provide innovative projects which stimulate children and young people's personal development and contribute to their educational attainment.
