The proposal for the Croydon Model is to form a partnership with Southwark in the successful Drama Champion Action research project to ensure that as a borough we can provide our colleagues and staff with opportunities to:
‘enhance and enrich the curriculum through drama’
The ultimate aim of this project is to raise the quality of provision in the teaching of drama in all Croydon Schools over a 3 year period.
In order to achieve this, the project will:
• Work with Southwark in the sharing of and creation of learning resources.
• Collect and collate case studies as evidence of impact over a 3 year period
• Meet every half term with the Southwark Drama Champions for master classes from leading practitioners at inspirational venues – (for example: The Globe Theatre)
• Provide the highest standard of CPD and training for a group of 30 ‘Drama Champions’ in Year 1.
• Develop the skills of these Drama Champions so that they are able to disseminate best practise in drama to colleagues in their own school (Year 1) at least 3 other schools (Years 2 and 3)
• The creation of Drama based cross-curricular units of work to be trialled and modelled by Drama Champions.
If you wish to start a Drama Champions programme in your Borough please email London Drama Office.
