This practical workshop will enable you teach your students elements of stage fighting in a safe controlled way. In addition you will be shown how to teach sword fighting by just using your arms and many other safety conscious but exciting and effective techniques. The workshop has been used by teachers to teach across key stages 3, 4 and 5, and has been incorporated into school plays and productions.

Simon Flowerdew trained in Drama and Dance at Roehampton University. After completing a performer’s course at London Contemporary Dance School. Simon worked as a dancer and Physical performer in Germany, and the UK. Credits include aerial performer on Peter Gabriel’s Millennium Dome show. Actor dancer on Carmen, Aida and Cav & Pag at the Royal Albert Hall and physical performer for the Queens Golden Jubilee at Buckingham palace. Simon is currently teaching Drama at a secondary school in Wiltshire.

The Workshop will take place on Saturday 1st March 2014 in the brand new Diorama Arts Studios, 201 Drummond Street, London NW1. Map

STEP is a borough-wide partnership linking the theatre community and education and youth sector in the London Borough of Southwark. STEP aims to equalise, extend and deepen the theatre and drama experience of all young people living in Southwark through the development of strategic partnerships between schools, youth and community groups and theatres and performing arts organisations. STEP's objective is to work closely with Southwark schools, youth and community groups and theatres and performing arts organisations to develop creative approaches to learning and provide innovative projects which stimulate children and young people's personal development and contribute to their educational attainment.
