The Algebra of Freedom £7.99
In The Algebra of Freedom by Raman Mundair:
• Tony, a policeman, wishes he could turn the clockback.
• Jack knows that what's done is done.
• Parvez, a young Asian man, can't believe that Sara is back from beyond and this time she seems to have all the answers.
The Algebra of Freedom is a taut political drama that asks questions about identity, faith and compassion in a society waging a war against terror.
"The Algebra of Freedom is a strong, important play…by [a] fast rising young British playwright”
“Raman Mundair is a rare breed: a poet whose writing works on the page and the stage. Her readings reveal the secret music of the poem… Mundair is literature at its best: thoughtful, provocative and sharp."
“[Her] poems…combine honesty…with precisely turned and unobtrusive language whose rhythms always have a sense of rightness.
World Literature Today
In 2007 Raman was awarded a Robert Louis Stevenson Award and in 2006 she was runner up in the Penguin Decibel Prize for Short Fiction. She has also been awarded the prestigious Arts Council England International Fellowship at the India International Centre in Delhi and several Scottish Arts Council Fellowships. In 2008 she will be a Scottish Library Poet Partner for East Dumbarton and is one of the 24 writers chosen by the Royal Court Theatre and the BBC in 2008 for their 24 Degrees project.
